Request for assistance with Yarriambiack Shire examination

The Local Government Inspectorate is the dedicated integrity agency for local government in Victoria and is currently reviewing the practices of Yarriambiack Shire Council.

Inspectorate staff attended at the Hopetoun council depot recently to follow up on issues raised during the examination.

Following that attendance, LGI staff now want to hear from any community members who have hired or borrowed machinery or been provided with any services from Yarriambiack Shire Council depots in recent years, either for personal or business related purposes. Some of those services may have included road grading, use of council machinery or vehicles, or the sale of chemicals.

We request for any community member who has used the above council services, or have any queries, to contact us by:

Should you wish to respond anonymously, there is provision to do so through the Contact form.

Acting Chief Municipal Inspector Ross Millard said: “Yarriambiack Shire Council is assisting with our enquiries. I encourage anyone in the community to come forward with information which they believe may assist our investigation.”

“Our objective is to identify any concerning or illegal activity in order to protect the integrity and transparency of the council for the local community.”

Any queries relating to this work should be directed to the Inspectorate.
