Moonee Valley Council candidate court mention adjourned

The Local Government Inspectorate has charged Miriam Gillis, a candidate in the 2016 election for Moonee Valley Council, for failing to declare campaign donations.

The Insepctorate will allege that Ms Gillis failed to declare donations from the Municipal Employees Union Fund, which is associated with her employer, the Australian Services Union (ASU), and also failed to disclose a gift or donation in the form of printing services from the ASU.

The maximum penalty for each charge is 60 penalty units ($9,671.40 as of 1 July 2018).

Ms Gillis' matter was adjourned at Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court on 12 June 2019. A special mention will now be heard on 12 November and a contest mention is scheduled for 23 March 2020.
